An idea to establish one more Rotary Club in Baroda took shape in 1964 which resulted in establishing a provisional Club "Rotary Club of Brihad Baroda" with late Rtn. Maj. Gen. Sharadanand Singh as President and Late Rtn. Govindbhai C. Shah as Hon. Secretary. The charter was finally presented to the club named "Rotary Club of Jawaharnagar" on June 8th, 1967 after 3 years of struggle due to territorial restriction. Rtn. Dr. C. B. Patel was the Charter President. The club was renamed as "Rotary Club of Baroda Jawaharnagar" -RCBJ in 2002-03 to synchronize with RI directory which names each club from the city it belongs to.

Since inception RCBJ has been front runner in the district, going from strength to strength. The club has provided two illustrious District Governors, Rtn. S. P. Maini (1991-92) and Rtn. Jatin Bhatt (2002-03). The Club supports an Inner wheel Club, a Rotaract Club, an Interact Club and a Rotary Community Centre and the Club is actively involved in community Service.
